Travel dream meaning is explained below using 15 different sources. Each interpretation is shown with its source.

Interpretation 1 — Martha Clarke

Sleep is already, of a fashion, a trip to the center of oneself. Consequently, there are many meanings associated with this dream. In general, it represents your vital travel. Finding yourself in the middle of a wide road suggests the wellbeing of your progress. If, in contrast, the road is full of rocks, it is trying to say that the path is arduous and difficult. A luxurious environment, on the other hand, indicates that you are pleased with your situation; but, if it is an arid desert, it expresses loneliness and lack of creativity. The hardness or smoothness of the path will manifest the tenseness or relaxedness that you are, respectively. The destination of the trip could be to find one’s true self.

If the lands that you encounter on you path are strange and unknown, everything could be an invitation of the subconscious to explore. In mythology, a trip to the west signifies a return to your ancestry, while a trip to the east denotes rejuvenation. The interpretation of the places, cities, or countries that you visit will add valuable information.

The ancient interpretations of dreams coincide with the modern ones. For example, the ease with which you realize the trip will be the same that you will find, in some future, in real life. In addition, the medieval mystics said that dreaming of a happy group of friends taking a trip signifies that you will soon experience a happy existential period.

Interpretation 2 — Theresa Cheung

Making a journey within a dream can be a direct replay of a real journey, but in most cases the journey is a symbol of the dreamer’s travels through their inner world.

According to Freud, dreams of a pleasant journey suggest steady progress in psychoanalysis; but the imagined motion of the journey also represents a wish for sexual intercourse. For Jungians, dreams of journeys act as a message telling you that it is time to take note of new possibilities and reach out for new challenges that can help you towards our spiritual destination. In some cases, dream journeys reflect how easy or difficult you are finding your life. Many modern dream analysts might see in such dreams a desire for change in some aspect of your life, a desire to ’move on’.

When trying to understand the meaning of your dream, it is important to take note of your mode of transport, whether you are walking or in a vehicle, the pace at which you are moving, the direction you are taking, any obstacles in your path, the weather, any luggage you were carrying and the person or people with whom you were traveling. All these details, along with your emotional reaction to the dream, will give you a good understanding of the progress you are making in waking life.

Interpretation 3 — Silvana Amar

Many people dream of traveling in planes, cars, trains, or motor bikes. Traveling seems to be one of the most common dream themes.

It is representative of our journey through life. These dreams could represent your current movement toward goals or passage through life. Difficult traveling conditions such as a dark road, a bad storm, or an accident in a car, or other vehicle may be symbolic of the difficulties that we experience in our daily journey through life. Other times dreaming about traveling to a fun place and having a great time could be a form of compensation or wish-fulfillment. This type of a dream can be an escape from our daily life and form of transcendence into a beautiful dream world.

If you are constantly having dreams about traveling, take a closer look at the current situations in your life. Are things going well, or are they more difficult than you would like them to be? Are your dreams a form of escapism and entertainment or are they reassuring you that life is an adventure and to keep moving forward? See also: Journey , Car , Road , Train , Airplane
