Interpretation 1 — Theresa Cheung
The shark has a universal significance as a deadly predator, so if you dreamed of swimming happily at the beach but then were terrified to see a shark’s fin circling around you, your unconscious may be alerting you to someone who is potentially dangerous in your waking world, perhaps even a loan shark who is offering you money at high interest rates. In their positive aspect, sharks reflect power, instinct, intelligence and the ability to survive. In their negative aspect, sharks typically represent hidden fears that may have an intense impact on you. They are also terrifying symbols of death, destruction and the killer instinct. In many cases, the shark represents the fears you may have about what it may mean to strike out on your own.
If you are sailing over shark-infested waters in your dream, some things in your life may be compromising your individuality, or you may be experiencing conflicts that are pulling and pushing you in opposite directions.

A fear of or focus on something that may never happen or that may not exist.
The idea of going directly after something you want.
Feeling vulnerable in a situation in which you feel “out of your element” (as humans may feel in water because they’re typically land dwellers).

Interpretation 4 — Dr. Mıchael Lennox
The ultimate predator, this is a very common image in a dream that represents fear and anxiety. As a totem, the power of the shark is phenomenal. Sharks represent our capacity to be single-minded, unstoppable, and driven. And yet, when they appear in a dream, they are often reviled and feared. When the shark appears in your dream, you must ask yourself what you are afraid of. Such a dream may be calling you to step into your personal power in a bigger way. Focus, self-determinism, and being utterly free of distraction are part of the medicine that the shark has to offer. But first you must get out of the way of your own fears in order to accept such power as your own.

Interpretation 5 — Ariadne Green
Shark offers the medicine or power to confront your greatest fears. It can come as a response to a fearful situation. Once the fear is conquered, the courage and strength of Shark can deliver you to the bottom of the ocean of fear and beyond the limits of what you perceive as safe waters in order to conquer negative emotions. Being attacked by a shark in a dream might signify a confrontation with someone who could take advantage of your naivete.
